Our Green and Baby Safe Travels

This past weekend got me thinking about our plans to start a family and how we would travel with our new baby, or perhaps multiple babies, and I started day dreaming…
- How will we handle visits to the grocery store?
- What will it be like simply going out to the cinema?
- How will we possibly handle traveling abroad?
My parents and sister still live in the UK and we normally fly at least once a year to England for a visit. The flights are at least 9 hrs long and I hope we can cope with a new-born baby. So I found myself asking the question: Where can I find tips and products to guarantee a smooth journey once our baby arrives?

For that long plane trip – breastfeeding is THE solution – helps baby’s inner ear pressure stabilize (sets babies and small children screaming, and is a killer if you have a cold – no wonder they scream!)
The baby Bjorn carriers are good only for the first few months, then they strain your back, as baby is essentially hanging off your front. Usually people give them up around 4-5 montths, thinking they can’t wear their ‘heavy’ baby.
I’d recommend a ring sling for that point, they hold baby snug against your hip and ditribute weight well. A mei-tai is great for front or back carries – they are beautiful, and as they tie on, so comfortable.
